Otters holding hands Now, I know I may be a little biased when it comes to Otters and talking about cute things because I have always been fascinated by Otters - both the River Otter (lutra lutra) and the Sea Otter (Anhydra Lutris) and all Otters in between.  Whenever I can, I visit the Otter Sanctuary (and Butterfly House) in Buckfast, Devon (Buckfast is the home of ‘Buckfast Tonic’, that popular weapon of the native Pavement Ape, Tramp or ‘Homelss Person’ as we now call them).  If you are ever in Devon it really is worth a visit.  They have many Otters and they are so cute it makes me want to cry.  When you see them in their holt all snuggled up together, cuddling, it is just unbelievable.  I could watch them all day.  They are so playful and happy.  And the little chirrups, clicks and whistles they make are cute as well.

Anyway, ahem.  I always take interest in anything Otter related I find in the news or on the web (I only read Harry Potter originally because someone told me that Hermione Graingers Petronus was an Otter, he lied) and recently I have been spoilt.  Have you seen the fantastic 2-part South Park where Cartman goes into suspended animation so he doesn’t have to wait for the Nintendo Wii? You haven’t?! Then GO GET IT IMMEDIATELY! Here is a little clip to give you a taste of this fantastic Otter-Oriented episode.  Here is a link to the episodes! You have no excuse!

Anyway, the point of this post is a real clip of two Sea Otters.  Otters, if you didn’t know, mate for life.  They know how to love each other and really do have emotions like ours.  They are highly intelligent.  And this clip shows two of them holding hands.  Make sure you watch the episode right to the end, Okay?!  Because towards the end they float apart and then one reaches out and grabs the others ones hand again and it is so cute I nearly had heart failiure…
